You may think you know football, but
without the Pro Football Forecast you don't know what you're
missing. The Forecast goes beyond mere totals to take a new
approach to football stats, with unique numbers for offense,
defense, and even the lowly kicker and punter. If you look at the
totals only, they don't give you the full story. Take Eddie
George's numbers in 2003. He gained more than 1,000 yards but
needed an enormous number of carries to reach that milestone. One
back matched George's yardage with over seventy fewer carries;
imagine what Steve McNair would do with seventy extra snaps! The
Forecast also provides defensive ratings, compiling all the good
things a defender does and comparing players position by position,
both from last year and throughout recent history. As for kickers,
everyone knows that fifty-yard field goals are tougher than chip
shots and that booming a punt and pinning a team deep are two
totally different skills. The Forecast turns that knowledge into
firm numbers, with hard stats to show the difference. Of course,
the Forecast still provides a look at each team's recent past and
its future, discussing the forthcoming season and why last season
turned out as it did. There's also a research essay for each team,
taking a look at an interesting question that specifically applies
to that team (and often to the league as a whole). On top of all
that you get information for your fantasy leagues-rankings by
positions, projections for how the skill players will do in the
2005 season, and tips on who to avoid and who might be a good
sleeper. If you're looking for a book that lets you know the
NFL-really know the NFL, from top to bottom-then you're looking for
the Forecast. |
